Long Term Obstacles

The dish-engine model is only available for educational purposes and not available in the market yet. Issues remains at the current time about the Stirling engine receivers which requires balancing in the multiple cylinder Stirling engine which considered as an integration issue because the receivers must efficiently transfer concentrated solar energy to a high pressure oscillating gas such as hydrogen. According to “Issues such as installation logistics, control algorithms, facet manufacturing, mirror characterization, and alignment methods, although relatively pedestrian, still need resolution for any design” the researches still addressing these issues and marked as unsolved. [25]

Moreover, there are basic issues rise up due to the type of the environment such as,

  • In open loop model, the preprogramed course to insure optimal direct sunlight efficiency.

  • Any slight miscalculation or tolerance could affect it heavily on the long run. Another main issue is the disturbances to the dish due to weather such as strong winds, heavy rain or even physical contact.

  • In the closed loop model, the main issue will involve the sensors and the sensors input.

  • These sensors can be disrupted due to weather conditions such as, clouds and rain, which ma mislead the dish and divert it away from the sunlight

Therefore, regular maintenance and checks must be provided for stable and reliable use of the equipment.
